make a blunder and regret it (un po' meno volgare)!

make a stupid mistake and then regret it (ancora meno volgare)! Oppure cambi leggermente, "waste my money", "let my money down the drain", etc.

agree  Kate Chaffer: I'd go with 'make a stupid mistake...'. I don't think it needs to be vulgar. By the way, we say 'to make a cock-up' and 'to pour money down the drain'.

drop a bollock and then regret it

Explanation:
I think "drop a bollock" (see the Urban Dictionary or Wikipedia) has slightly more wit about it than a plain "balls-up", whilst "pentirmene" is a straight, not slang, expression and therefore needs a straight translation. Fun stuff :).

make a balls up and then have to live with it

Explanation:
The idea of regret is implicit in the combination of these two expressions.

As an alternative, you could say

"to balls it up and then have to live with it"
or
"to balls it up and then lump it"

blow my dough and regret it

Explanation:
This is how I interpret the phrase - and, in my opinion, it doesn't necessarily need to reflect the apparent vulgarity of the source in translation, if it is understood that the "cagata" is used ironically and what it actually means.

However, if you want to be vulgar, you could say "shoot my wad".
