L'abbassamento e il conseguente cedimento dei conci della tubazione sono da attribuire alla presenza di una parte del terreno, alla base dei tubi, significativamente de-adensata rispetto alle circostanze della zona e costituita da lino strato superiore coesivo mediamente compatto (limi argillosi} e da uno strato inferiore essenzialmente sabbioso (sabbie fini leggermente argillose) ed inizialmente medio addensato.
