agree  Raitei: Yes. The Family Registration Law requires Japanese nationals to change their 本籍地 every time they move. Taking that into account, I laugh when I see translations written in stone by some ganko jiji like "domicile of birth."

agree  Tomoyuki Kono: Raitei san, you don't need to change your 本籍地 every time you move. Perhaps you had 住民票(住民基本台帳)in mind, which does need to be updated every time you move..
