Dear ProZ members,

I've found the following sentence in a SF cartoon. An army needs to drop lots of thermobaric bombs in order to clear a path. Describing the operation, the captain says:

目視照準で構わない

Does 目視照準 stand for "aiming by eyesight" (and not using automatic devices and such)? Meaning that accuracy is not important, and just destroying everything is fine. Or something else?

照準 can be simply translated to "aiming" but 照準 needs to emphasize human's physical vision by (how=) observation, which doesn't require as precise as aiming device in this case.

Explanation:
From what I have understood, I believe a term like locked and loaded would fit here. Although I must say something like "I don't care if you've got them in your sights" would work just as well. I just spent half an hour researching this and from my personal standpoint, I could not find any other answers.

Asker: Wow, thank you for the research! However, I'm not getting how the "locked and loaded" interpretation would fit in the context, honestly. Any hints? Also, I've found this link: https://www.jcga.ac.jp/shisetu/simulation/bridge1.html ... where they talk about "visual aiming" and "automatic aiming" (see the image on the right). This seems closer to my original interpretation. I'm quite confused...
