Japanese term or phrase: 方法クレーム
I am doing a test for a translation agency and I have been asked to draw up a 方法クレーム based on the first claim of a patent I translated.

I know that 方法クレーム translates into English as "method claim" but don't know how my translation should differ from my translation of claim 1.

process claim

Explanation:
For example,
Claim 1 states:
A process for producing xxx, characterized in that said process comprises the steps of xxxx.
then,
Claim 2 may state:
A xxx (product) prepared by the process according to Claim 1.
In the case above, the invention as defined in Claim 2 includes the invention of Claim 1, i.e., process claim.

You should understand that the descriptions of claims are not only exaplantions, but to define the scope protection granted by the patent, i.e., to be legally examined.

Please see the reference.
