Thanks to all for your suggestions. There are several points that I need to keep in mind to translate "statu quo": 1) I am forced to stick to the Latin, as much as possible. I cannot "translate" the term into English. 2) I need to use the correct term, and I cannot use the "American Latin" term:"status quo". The correct expression in Latin of the word seems to be "statu quo" (ablative), so I will leave the term untranslated.
