statutes Explanation: In the US, they are called by-laws. in the UK, articles of association. However, according to article 4 of the Law on Companies of the Republic of Lithuania (http://www3.lrs.lt/pls/inter3/dokpaieska.showdoc_l?p_id=2334... istatai should be translated as statutes for Lithuanian companies. |

(Company) Regulations Explanation: http://www.anguillafsc.com/PDF/Legislation/CoRegs.pdf Bent jau taip verčia britai ir tokį terminą vartoja daug teisininkų. Seniau, prie kokią "desetką" metų, Lietuvoje "įstatus" dar versdavo "By-Laws". P.S. "Articles of Incorporation/Association" šiaip jau yra "steigimo aktas" (tai NE "įstatai") |

statutes Explanation: Looking at the definition of by-laws on the internet, it would seem I misspoke about their meaning and they refer to a lower level company document. The internet is a fantastic tool. Sorry, Marius, but according to article 7 of the Law on Companies, 'steigimo aktas/sutartis' is translated 'instrument of incorporation'. Easy enough to confuse 'instrument' with 'articles'. I Believe the usual UK term is 'memorandum of association' for multiple shareholder companies. I think the Lithuanian law uses 'instrument' so that the same term is used for both single and multiple shareholder companies. As to http://www.anguillafsc.com/PDF/Legislation/CoRegs.pdf, this is secondary legislation for the country of Anguilla in the Caribbean. And they use 'articles of incorporation' to translate 'istatai'. |
