Norwegian term or phrase: elvebrudd
Isras, fjellskred og elvebrudd ødelegger avlinger og beitemark i dalene omkring Jostedalsbreen.

The best I can come up with here is "burst river banks" but is there a more technical term for this?

English translation:interruption of river's natural flow
Explanation:
This is probably not the exact term for "elvebrudd". "Elvebrudd" may not be caused by flooding only.
I have seen the term "river breakage" used in some texts.

fluvial flooding

Explanation:
This type of flooding is caused by high tides and or inclement weather breaching sea defences and inundating the surrounding areas. Rivers bursting their banks and flooding of roads usually follows extended periods of exceptionally heavy rainfall.
