not (just) a brief effort Explanation: Not a good choice of words in the first place - a 'blaff' is something very short-lived, like a sudden interest or a rush of passion, as easily flamed as extinguished. As an opposite to continuous focus, it doesn't work very well. As as reinforcement of what an ongoing, focused effort should not be like, the suggested target term might work better than the literal "not a sudden flare-up". |
