Portuguese term or phrase: platex
referring to a painting support - is this 'hardboard'? I have found a reference to one of the works referred to on the internet, and it describes it as oil on hardboard.

thank you!

Notes to answerer
Asker: thanks Sue, I am just concerned that I can't find any references to painting on this material in the literature and also by the fact that, as I mentioned before, there is reference to the same work as being on hardboard. But, as you point out, platex is what is used in the original. Do you think I could use the more generic 'buckram' instead?

agree  Evans (X): often seems to be referred to as Platex board, see for instance: http://www.compagnieindes.com/en/produtos_detail.php?nID=9&a...

agree  Filippe Vasconcellos de Freitas Guimarães: *Not* buckram, though—it is indeed hardboard. See the "Prensado ou Platex" section at http://www.moveissantoagostinho.com/page_1191671770953.html
