Another option would be to use something along the lines of "the miniseries is directed by xxx, with assistant directors xxx and xxx" or "xxx directed the miniseries and xxx and xxx were assistant directors" or even "direction by xxx and assistant direction by xxx and xxx" ...if you google "assistant director" there are lots of examples...
