rain calling procession // wicked fairies' procession
Explanation:

The group of players is not formed everywhere, as it is generally thought, exclusively by girls. A minute description reveals the presence of boys in their teens and sometimes even of lads among those in the ***Paparuda procession*** in the south of Transylvania (especially in the HaŃeg region), in sub-Carpathian Oltenia, in Muscel and in South-Moldavia regions where an intermediate type is to be found, something between Paparuda and the specific Transylvanian Sîngeorz. The requirement of the
ritual purity of those forming the group is directly or indi-rectly stressed in most of the information about Paparuda practised by girlfe. But the custom having been taken over by gypsies who would practise it in view of receiving gifts has led to the lessening of the ritual conditioning and to unexpected
simplifications.
