Constituite în urmă cu aproximativ două secole, în timpul graniţei militare, Fondurile grănicereşti X reprezintă una dintre cele mai importante realizări ale populaţiei româneşti din acest ţinut în sfera învăţământului, determinând reorganizarea vechilor şcoli dar şi construirea altora noi. Contribuţia acestora se reflectă în progresul economic, administrativ şi edilitar al zonei. La câţiva ani după înfiinţarea regimentului X, Curtea de la Viena a decis constituirea unor fonduri, al căror principal scop era să acopere cheltuielile de administraţie internă a districtelor confiniare.
