Art/Literary - Music / Article on famous conductor
Romanian term or phrase: în persoana...în care s-a format
The context here is as follows:

" Instinct de cea mai pură muzicalitate, în persoana maestrului [conductor name] se împerecheau într-un mod armonios caracteristicile școlii germane, în care s-a format, cu inspirația originii sale meridionale. "

I begun this sentence with:
"With the most natural musical instinct, [conductor name] combined the harmonious characteristics of the German schools, with [????-now the problem], with (or inspired by?) his southern origins."

My problem is that I am unsure whether there is some element of the conductor's personality being referred to here due to the words: "în persoana", so I do not know what "s-a format" should be - this is the connection which would make a difference in the English anyway.

...the German school which had moulded him as conductor...
Explanation:
The attributes/characteristics of the German school which had moulded him/built him up as conductor and the inspiration of its southern origin/his inspirational southern origin were harmoniously joined in [conductor's name] / in the maestro, gifted [indeed] with a most natural musical instinct.

...just a thought, kind of twisted, I admit it...
