Russian term or phrase: огнеприсягание
«Двое или же куар (группа) ровесников вместе, когда встречаются для какого-нибудь общего дела: скажем в бою, на поле войны, или вообще далекой чужой стране в тяжелом деле, или же в набеге... с друг другом чтобы связались.., чтобы подтвердить, без друг друга поддержки или дальше жить нельзя, тогда друг другу крепкое слово дают, верности слово дают. Своим таким словом друг друга, будучи из разных фамилий, называют братьями — огнеприсяжными ро-весниками (эрхорд эмгэртэ)... Группа, раньше на котором пестром шесте своё оружие, боя инструмент военным положением прислонила, и вокруг которого огнеприсягания пестрого шеста стоит, согласно старшинству, по нему свои руки проводят, шепотом говоря, клятву даю моих ровесников не продам, моего раненого ровесника вынесу из-под досягания врага, его тело к его смертной земле доставлю. Ровесники на своего старшего слово говорят оммен, из - под пестрого шеста берут свои инструменты (оружие), друг-друга за руки берут, и сжавшись, говорят друг-другу: будем братьями и друг-друга защитим как одно потомство (букв. — дети одних родителей)… Огнеприсяжные ровесники таким образом становятся едины, принимают одну веру (ум), одно сердце».

I think I understand well enough what is happening here, but I would very much like to hear what you think about огнеприсягание.
