This chapter is looking at the rise of the study of local cultures, which is contrary to the stadial approach (theory of stages).

Свое видение палеолита с точки зрения локальных культур А. Н. Рогачев (1961) именовал “реально-историческим” или “конкретно-историческим”, резко противопоставляя такую трактовку “стадиальному схематизму”.

Кажется впервые термин “конкретно-исторический” употребил А. П. Окладников (1941), имея в виду подход, нацеленный на установление места отдельного памятника среди окружающих стоянок сходного возраста.
