Hello Fellow Linguists,
I wonder if anyone can help me get a better understanding of this phrase? It is part of a transcript of a dialogue between two women. There isn't much context to go on but one of the women is trying to reassure the other and says the following:

Так что не переживай, не расстраивайся – правильно сделала, потому что это люди, у которых крыша едет из-за игры, из-за ставок… это все потерянные люди (практически).

I thought the phrase might mean 'they have skin in the game' ie, to incur monetary risk to achieve a goal. Moreover, that they'd go to any length to achieve their aim/ throw money at the issue.

Could someone tell me if this is what is meant?
