disagree  Daryo: no - it's a type of data that is a string of numbers, but it's not a "number" that you would go adding to or multiplying with anything - here it's "numerical data" that is a "classification code" for the type of activity of the company.

neutral  Pavle Perencevic: "Data" is a collective noun. It doesn't fit in here. You need a singular noun such as "code" or "number" here.

neutral  Pavle Perencevic: Yes, but in Latin. I've never seen "datum" used in English as the singular of "data" - probably because most people use "data" as a singular noun. I've only seen "data point" and "piece of data". Using "datum" in this sense would be too pedantic.

-> Mislim da je "datum" sasvim prikladno u navedenom kontekstu, pogledajte molim vas zadnje dve reference koje sam navela.

neutral  Daryo: this is beside the point - the question should be THE WHOLE OF "нумерички податак".

data point

Explanation:
At least that's what I've heard used by political pundits on TV here.
Assuming you don't need "data" as a collective noun, but a single "piece of data".

Ok, the person who disagreed with my proposal is right. So, I looked up this document online. This should be "n u m e r i c c o d e", not "data", "datum" or "data point". There's also "алфанумерички податак"a few lines down in the same doc, which is "alphanumeric code". You should have asked for the translation of "numerički podatak", not just "podatak",

disagree  Daryo: "political pundits"??? this is highly specialised terminology used in software design for describing data structures - a story where you won't find ANY "political pundit" // terminally wrong context.

-> Terminally? Whoa, you make it sound like it's cancer ;) "Podatak" (the asker's actual term) IS "data point". He should have asked for "numerički podatak" - but that's a different matter. Check the questions first before rushing to comment on answers.
