Thanks to you and everyone in the discussion who pointed me in the direction of thinking about characteristics of the machine, and not the trees! It's a very different type of harvester (big tractor mounted one), so I'm not sure of "washer." (plus there was yet another reference later to a "taco trapezoidal." I wound up using "nub," but your reference was helpful.

  -> From the information given I assume that tacos are the rubber paddings/washers needed to protect different types of tree; young trees being more fragile and so needing softer washers on the harvesting rods than more mature and sturdy trees
