Para briofitos se observaron principalmente células, márgenes, ápices, papilas, tomento, costas, cuerpos de aceite, anfigastros, cilios, dientes, mamilas, poros, orientación de las hojas respecto al tallo, seta, endostoma, exostoma, caliptras, capsulas, yemas y operculos."

There are all kinds of dictionary definitions, from tile, to slab, to sheet... could they be talking about the slide that the sample is placed on under the microscope?

In context "slides", plural, of course.

"Lámina" in microscopy commonly refers to the thin slice of material that is examined under the microscope, but in this context it is evidently part of the equipment, and must refer to what is normally called the portaobjetos, the slide. The laminillas must cubreobjetos, or cover slips.

This company, for example, sells "láminas portaobjetos" and "laminillas cubreobjetos":
