Spanish term or phrase: A raíz desnuda
Hola, colegas:

Sólo quería confirmar con vosotros que "árbol a raíz desnuda" fuera "bare root trees" en inglés. No tengo contexto. Es un vivero que dice vender este tipo de árboles. No hay fotografías ni nada que se le parezca.

Muchas gracias por adelantado.

bare-root
Explanation:
I would spell it with a hyphen in "bare-root tree"; some people omit the hyphen.

It seems pretty clear. "Bare-root trees" and "árboles a raíz desnuda" refer to the same thing and both terms are common in garden centres and nurseries.

What does that mean?
Bare root trees are trees that are dug and stored without any soil around their roots.
Trees can be bought "bare root," and then planted directly into the ground."

agree  John Speese: Si, se venden a menudo arboles u otras plantas a raiz desnuda "bare root" en los centros de jardineria.

  -> Gracias, John :)

agree  philgoddard: Since "bare-root" comes before "trees", it has to have a hyphen. If it came afterwards (eg "the trees are sold bare rooted"), the hyphen would not be necessary.

-> Thank you, Phil. That's exactly my position too, but I sometime get the feeling we're a dying breed. Without a hyphen it could mean root trees that are bare (in theory).

agree  Muriel Vasconcellos: I agree about the hyphen--a disapparing distinction.

-> Thanks, Muriel! We must stick together :)

agree  Elizabeth Joy Pitt de Morales: Yes, and with the hyphen.

-> Thanks, Elizabeth :) The pro-hyphen movement is gathering momentum.

bare root trees

Explanation:
Well, that's what they sell in this place:
"We have our bare root trees for sale though the winter, November through to March. Winter is the optimum time for planting rootballed and bare..."
