Tech/Engineering - Computers: Hardware / human-device interaction
This is a piece on developments in human-device interaction. I do not know what this particular term would be in English. Nothing convincing is coming up for either contact-based or contact-oriented web applications....
All help appreciated. British English. Thanks in advance. :)

networking sites/applications
Explanation:
Hi Kate,

I'm afraid this is a complete guess, but this is what came to mind - a networking site, such as LinkedIn, where you can share busines contacts and get introduced to potential collaborators/clients (i.e. contacts).

Good luck!

If this is the right idea, you might want to add "business networking sites" if it is for work-related networking only, or "social networking sites" if it's referring to sites like facebook.

Ah yes, sorry I missed your note that this was for "entornos de ocio". "Social networking sites" is almost certainly the most commonly-used term for sites like facebook, MySpace and bebo. I'm not sure if they are what you would call "applications" per se, but perhaps "sites" would be ok for your context.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Rebecca. Sure, it's something along these lines, and in this case (see context above) it is leisure we're talking about, so as you say, things like Facebook and any other "networking applications" as you put it, where people are in contact or making contacts. You may well have got a nice version there with 'social networking sites'. Thank you! :)
