Spanish term or phrase: actos de gobierno
This is a text describing the protections afforded freedom of expression in Argentina, specifically regarding a documentary.

El interés social por la publicidad de los actos de gobierno refuerza el derecho a la libre expresión de que gozan los individuos. Ambos se consideran básicos en todo estado de derecho y en el derecho internacional de los derechos humanos.

It seems quite specific, since wikipedia in Spanish includes the following as crucial features of a republic:
Son elementos comunes que participan del contenido de la definición tradicional que la cultura occidental ha elaborado del concepto “República”:

La periodicidad en los cargos
La primacía de la ley
La igualdad ante la ley
La publicidad de los actos de gobierno: no es posible el secreto de Estado
La responsabilidad de políticos y funcionarios públicos
El ejercicio de la ciudadanía, quien pone y depone

-> That's because it's the more erudite way of expressing the concept.

neutral  AllegroTrans: Not "wrong" but not more erudite than the simpler answer and in fact unnecessarily on the jargonistic side, although I will concede it's often the way it's expressed in the US

-> Yes, you should have entered "agree", because that's the way it is expressed in the US, by your own admission, esp. by erudite individuals.

Executive Action; UK > Acts of State

Explanation:
yes, government also includes the legislature, but not the judiciary: Montesquieu's separation of powers,

Parliamentary action in the UK also involves the Monarchy, whilst Act of State would work to my recollection of the partly writte, partly unwritten British Constitution - pace Phil G. and sufficient g/hits - only within the British and not US-Am definition of the Act of State Doctrine.

Obiter, Executive Action - as in the Scrutiny thereof - is normally kept in the singular, even if multiple executory or executive acts are performed cf. the US President's albeit controversial signing off of Executive Orders.

Example sentence(s):
  • USA: Act-of-State Doctrine Law and Legal Definition This doctrine says that a nation is sovereign within its own borders, and its domestic actions may not be questioned in the courts of another nation.
  • [...] by identifying and sharing good practice on parliamentary scrutiny of the executive europarl.europa.eu [..., mediante la definición y la difusión de las buenas prácticas de control de los Parlamentos con respecto a los Gobiernos
