Spanish term or phrase: Pauta reductora
Hi all,
I'm translating some prescriptions and I've come across the term pauta reductora. If I understand correctly these are the guidelines one is given to begin reducing levels of medication. In this context, it's listed in the medication given after an eye operation. My problem is that I am not sure of the correct term in English.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Reducing dose

Explanation:
It would be good to see the full sentence at least, but "reducing dose" is commonly used to describe the gradual reduction in a medication (eg steroids) so that the patient doesn´t have sudden withdrawal.

I think more context is needed to say exactly how it would be worded.

Example sentence(s):
  • To continue steroids at a reducing dose

agree  Robert Carter: I was going to suggest "dose reduction" or "gradual dose reduction", but you're the expert here, Doctor. Saludos!

Tapering (off) -> Gradually reducing the amount of a drug when stopping it abruptly would cause unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.

Example sentence(s):
  • ... rates of relapse or rebound between the nontapering dose patients and the tapering dose patients...

Pauta reductora o Pauta descendente
Withdrawal regimen

Explanation:
The original Spanish specifically refers to a withdrawal regimen rather than to just a (gradual) dose reduction.
As suggested by Robert Carter, corticosteroids -as in our case- is the usual drug to be prescribed on a pauta descendente (specifically referring to a gradual dose reduction regimen up to complete withdrawal).
