cutting agents Explanation: Alberto, I found this thesis from Peru where they study the cutting substances in drugs, and I extracted some paragraphs to explain in the Spanish context what they can refer to with those terms in your text (maniqui /cortina): Tesis para optar el titulo en segunda especialidad de perito forense con mención en química forense. My comment: First of all, those terms may be different for each Latin American Country, as we see Peru calls them from "RINDEX", but in the case of your text those two terms coincide very well with: APARIENCIA LINDA (DRUG PURITY)= "MANIQUI"; FACADE, COVER, HIDE THE ADULTERATION = "CORTINA" As English used to direct to the point, I suggested: "CUTTING AGENTS" based on a website that handles these concepts. Website example: https://www.eztestkits.com/es/ Cutting' refers to the means by which illicit drugs are diluted. Drugs can be cut during the production process or afterwards, sometimes with adulterants aimed to appeal to customers rather than solely to dilute. Cutting levels have varied considerably over the last decade with Heroin and Cocaine reportedly normally being around 50% pure (the remaining 50% can be made up from bi-products, degradation and impurities during manufacturing, not just by cutting agents). Some drugs have been reported to contain 0% |

cut Explanation: Alberto says in the discussion entries that he'd ideally like a slang term for "cutting agent". Althea's very helpful contribution points out that slang can date quickly and be specific to certain regions. Also, while we don't know what this document is, the terms may need to be understandable by the general public. So I suggest "cut", which is not slang, but should work in most contexts and may be preferable to repeating "cutting agent" multiple times. Procaine, lidocaine, benzocaine, cinchocaine, tetracaine, etc have become common cuts in heroin. http://www.bluelight.org/xf/threads/quinine-strychnine-heroi...
