A recurring term in an article on the history of art. It has to do with giving form or shape to something, and I have some ideas on how to get around it in a few of the sentences, but perhaps there is an established term for this out there?

This is my two cents worth as it is not a field I work in, but I think that this word is used in the field of Aesthetics or Philosophy of Art. I have listed two sites below where the word is used to describe lecturers in Swedish and English, it seems to be used on other sites in the same way. That may or may not help you in your translation :o)
