English translation: (in this context) crafter

Art/Literary - Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting / A book about crocheting
Swedish term or phrase: pysslare
I always find it difficult to translate the Swedish word "pyssla" - what people like doing at Christmas etc when they make their own decorations etc. The author of this book is a "mångsidig pysslare". Any ideas greatly appreciated :))

jack-of-all-trades

Explanation:
Have thought of this before -- but may be too much 'handyman' -- you can look for synonyms, tho

Is this person a versitile, intellectual 'jack of all trades'? Perhaps an artistic many-sided crafter? Or a scholar (intellectual) artisan?

There's more, too, of course. Good luck!

Ett förslag, kanske inte riktigt pysslare...men "mångsidig pysslare" kanske det passar för :-)

Explanation:
Bit of a long shot maybe. Don't much like jack of all trades because that can have a derogatory feel to it. Depends entirely on the overall tone of your book - if it's meant in a positive context, someone who can turn his hand to many crafts. Crafter sounds a bit odd to me. Mine are just suggestions - and not concise ones. Maybe you have to spell it out as you sometimes do in English.
