I am working on a translation which uses the term "vegetation" a lot, particularly in the compound "vegetationsbyggnad".

It seems that the term is referring to "green spaces" or areas that are rich in vegetation and I am wondering if anyone has come across this usage before and can suggest an equivalent term in English.

The text is an introduction to a research facility which experiments with the creation of green spaces using different types of plants.

Usage of vegetationsbyggnad:
Idag är inte den ekologiska förståelsen i växtdesignen ännu förankrad inom urban vegetationsbyggnad med förståelsen för hur olika arter är utrustade att hantera olika typer av växtmiljöer eller hur de reagerar på olika typer av konkurrenssituationer.

Usage of vegetation:
Framförallt är det de arter som naturligt etablerar sig i en vegetations senare, och äldre, skeden, då de kräver en mer skyddad miljö, som är av värde då det är just dem som har potentialen att bli en mogen vegetations nya smycken och möbler.
