Swedish term or phrase: glasyr
Please note that my query is directed specifically at users of UK English. The context is the recipe for the topping on a carrot cake. Can I use "frosting" or should I stick to "icing"?

What do you think if the topping in question includes butter and a certain spreadable goat cheese from, ahem, west of Kjølen. This link suggests "frosting" as the better choice in that event – http://separatedbyacommonlanguage.blogspot.com/2009/12/icing...

I thought that 'frosting' was an American term, but there seems to be a difference between the two. So I guess it then depends on whether the text is for professionals or not.

Read your question and thought of topping only to realise that you had used this word in your question
But it isn't icing/frosting for the reasons you say (soft and spreadable)
So why not 'topping' ?
