This has made me think before. In every dictionary, the translation is 'jurisdiction', which is the "right and power to interpret and apply the law", or 'venue' = presumably the court itself. Why then is FORUM followed by the name of a law? Can't I just write: 'LAW INVOKED' or similar?

Asker: I did write: "In every dictionary, the translation is 'jurisdiction'..." So I know what it says in dictionaries. My point was that this term doesn't seem appropriate here. Mårten Sandberg has confirmed what I suspected, i.e. that they mean 'lagrum'.

Asker: I didn’t really think of it as an error, more perhaps that some courts use it as a synonym for ‘lagrum’. Mind you, if that were the case you’d think this would be reflected in specialist dictionary entries. Every definition I’ve found refers to the court itself. From the translation I did, it’s obvious that what follows the heading “Forum” is the law upon which the plaintiff is basing his legal action. As a believer in calling a spade a spade and a former member of the Plain English Campaign, I baulk at using an obscure word like ‘purview’. I wrote ‘Legislation’ or something similar.

Explanation:
Everyone assumes this is a typo. But terms like purview, remit and ambit are elastic enough to straddle forum and lagrum.

Certainly the section itself has nowt to do with venue.
