Perhaps you can elaborate on the "lucky dip" term see eg http://www.letspartyadditivefree.com/games-1/fishing-lucky-d...
However this describes a game in which the children can see the prizes, and actually use a hook. As far as I know, in the Swedish version there is an adult behind the screen with the task of choosing a prize and attaching it to th fishing rod.

Fiskdamm is perhaps a more exciting version of lucky dip, which I remember from my childhood in England.

Example sentence(s):
  • We have a huge amount of great value lucky dip toys in our party bag toys and fundraising prizes section. Put them in a large box or toy bin with some shredded newspaper or tissue paper...
  • I need some help with ideas for lucky dip prizes

disagree  Michael Ellis: Loses the fishing aspect - I have seen children squealing with delight as they struggle and succeed to hook something.

  -> Yes, my suggestion is "similar but (very) different". Some part of the concept will be lost in translation, depending on the term chosen. Here we lose the fishing concept and the fact that the prize can be chosen for the specific child fishing

Fishing game

Explanation:
I think this is most suitable for UK consumers and probably elsewhere in the anglosphere.
Googling "Children's fishing game'' produces lots of commercial instances. The reference gives a summary.

In view of Tania's very valid comment below, I would like to modify my proposal to "Mystery fishing game".(If the system can cope!) This raises the problem of what this system should do. "Fiskdamm" translates generically as 'Fish pond' (as might be used in a construction specification for a building courtyard), but Catharina sought help in finding a translation for this particular variation of the game. I don't think a precise equivalent exists.

agree  Christopher Schröder: I imagine you'd need to retain the fishing aspect. I'm thinking maybe a "lucky-dip fishing game" would cover it :-)

neutral  Tania McConaghy: the link shows games with no prizes, the source term is an activity eg at parties, these are quite different concepts
