Further than the Norwegian's blazing bonfire Explanation: I don't think this is a reference to the aurora borealis. It seems more to me as being an indicator if distance, as in østenfor måne, vestenfor sol, or bortenfor minnenes slør. Could the bonfires be references to the light houses along the northern coast, as an indicator of a boundary? |
