buy/sell on credit

Explanation:
There's different old fashioned slang words for this in US and UK. But the Swedish term refers to buying standing trees known as a 'stumpage purchase' or 'purchase of standing timber". Basically, money doesn't change hands until after the trees are harvested and the timber is sold.

@'buy on the root" ... my feeling is that just this phrase is understood well enough in ou Anglo-saxon world, but like I said, there are traditional colloquial ways or saying this. But being in the midst of a highly technical job, I can't think of these right now. So you understood the concept?

Asker: Thank you! I would have liked something original like "buy on the root" as opposed to on credit, but there may not be any corresponding term for that in English..

Asker: Thank you again. I will use "credit" if I can't think of anything else, as that is what it is. I'm working on an academic text, which is in fact funny and entertaining to a certain extent, and so colloquial could possibly work..

Asker: True, my context should have been different. It confuses things. It should be something like "Man kunde köpa/betala för produkterna på "rot", dvs. produkterna fanns inte ännu tillgängliga, men skulle finnas tillgängliga om tillräckligt mycket pengar kunde samlas in för att producera dem." Something like that. Like crowd-funding.

Asker: This is interesting: https://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/kickstarter%20basics So, possibly, "pledge"..?

sell/purchase as standing timber

Explanation:
This is a term used in the forest/timber industry and means you buy the trees as they stand, i.e. not yet felled or processed. ('På rot' is in Norstedts by the way).
