Swedish to German translations [PRO]

Swedish term or phrase: sylvester
So, the guy is an artist and usually makes things out of wood and roots, etc. but uses anything he can get his hands on to transform it into "art" :) this time, he found and put on an old "sylvester", say whaaaat?

Here's some context from the book:

"... och Mickel hade nåt projekt där ute i regnet såg jag, han stod och byggde nåt och hamrade och inte vet jag mager och skevbent stod han där och regnet rann över honom. Han hade väl hittat nån gammal sylvester nånstans och satt på sig och hade det funnits nån koksingång hade det vart fint menar jag att gå ut genom den, ..."

Is it something like a leather apron like a blacksmith's, or am I completely wrong, s he just wearing a sweater of sort or a thingy to protect him from the rain?
