Dear Tahmineh, I expressed my humble opinion here, based on my modest estimation because you may not have had the chance to provide the whole context in your question. As you see, since the question by the interviewer seems a bit absurd, the translation thereof would seem so. Of course, you are free to choose other suggestions. If the interviewer had asked, "Why did you choose Istanbul as a setting for this novel", then it would have been more reasonable in my humble opinion.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Dear Seval, It is a part of interview with Elif Safak, Turkish writer on Bit Palas. As the setting of the novel (Bit Palas) is Istanbul, It seems nonsense to ask "Have you opted for Istanbul?" I mean it is very clear that Safak chose Istanbul as the setting.....

Asker: Dear Seval, I hope you are not annoyed by my question. your suggestion is exactly true, I just need suggestion that can help me understanding the exact meaning...
