To celebrate International Translation Day, local literary translators gathered with the Tioga Arts Council to read their work. In total, five translators read their work to an audience of ten. The venue and total participation was small, but enjoyed by all and it was a good showing for the first year celebrating this event in a small village of a very rural county.
As a follow up to this event, the Tioga Arts Council will create a working group of local literary translators that will work to promote the work of literary translators from and in Tioga County. The Arts Council also plans to hold a celebration of International Translation Day again in 2020.
