I lived and worked for 21 years in Japan, where I used my Japanese-language skills as a business journalist for a major U.S. financial news service, and also as an editor for Japan's public broadcaster and as a freelance translator specializing in business translations for consulting firms. I also worked briefly in sales for a U.S.-Japanese joint venture that marketed data communications products to multinational companies in Japan.
I twice passed Level 1 (highest) of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, first in 1989 and again in 2002.
My areas of specialization as a Japanese to English translator include financial documents, investor-relations materials, earnings statements, annual reports, CSR reports, marketing materials and business correspondence. I also translate materials of a more general nature, such as personal correspondence, news articles, instructions, etc. |
