Bio
My education:
Law School of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany

My language background: I am a native speaker of German. I was born in ex-East Germany in 1976. I spent 1 year living in Namibia, 2 years living in South Africa and have been living in the US for the past 20 years. Although my English is now more American than it has ever been, I still have a knack for British and South African English.

My working languages:
German > English
Dutch > English
English > German

My specialization:
Medical reports and invoices for insurance purposes and also general legal content

I have a total of 20 years of translation experience with a fairly wide array. I have translated a great number of product descriptions and product updates for paper distribution as well as websites with various contents - baby slings, solar-powered outdoor equipment, sewing machines, textiles, educational apps, hotel descriptions, company training materials, speeches for company leaders, health & beauty product descriptions, and all sorts of other marketing, training and informational materials.

My specialization is general legal and medical content, though. I worked at the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association for 8 years - serving 100 million insured. As an employee there, I translated medical bills and documentation German > English , Dutch> English, Afrikaans > English, as well as English > English. I am familiar with billing and coding formats from all over the English, German, Dutch, and Afrikaans speaking world.
As a freelancer, I have done a lot of translations of medical bills and documentation for insurance purposes (German, Dutch, Afrikaans > English) for various health insurance companies as well as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) - among them all announcements, notifications, and updates for the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) (English > German).
However, I also specialize in general legal content, such as delivery contracts, loan agreements, policy statements and articles of association. I often - and
gladly
 - translate documents with content that is just perfectly everyday and mundane - for example: pay stubs, employer statements for immigration purposes, child support enforcement transmittals, marriage contracts, birth certificates, separation agreements, references, wills, etc.
