Source text - Chinese 毛澤東原來是一座神，現在隨著越來越多的資料的揭露，慢慢地還原為一個人，一個有血有肉的人。但是至今仍然有些人把他看成神，對他的任何評論都是大不敬。如果說他也有錯誤，那是萬萬不容許的。在這些人看來，毛澤東永遠是不容分析，不許正視，不可評論的一尊神。他們永遠看不到毛澤東控制不住自己而流口水，連說話都說不清，跨不上汽車而不得不請人把他抬上去，他長期臥床而腿肚子又細又弱。幸虧更多的材料的發表，我們能從一般人的角度來看毛澤東，得到了許多新的印 象。他無非是一個人，雖然他的智力過人，但是免不了陷入每一個人都會碰到的規律。他不能突破規律，而是被普遍的規律所限制。他根本不是神，對他的一切迷信將會逐步消退。
Translation - English Mao Zedong was once a god, but following the exposure of an increasing amount of information, is slowly becoming a mere man of flesh and blood. Some people, however, still today regard him as a god and view any evaluation whatsoever as being disrespectful. If he did have faults, the thinking goes, they must not be spoken of under any circumstances. In the view of these people, Mao Zedong is simply not up for analysis and is not to be faced head on, now or ever; for you cannot criticize a god. They will never see the Mao that drooled uncontrollably, not even being able to speak clearly, nor the Mao that could not get in the car without the help of others nor his long period of being bed-ridden with weak and thin legs. Fortunately, with the publication of more materials, we can now look at Mao Zedong from the perspective of an ordinary person and in so doing can obtain not a few new impressions. He was simply a man, albeit one of extraordinary intelligence, but one that must inevitably face the law as does everyone else. He cannot go against this law, and is in fact limited by common law. He certainly was no god, and all of the superstitions regarding him will gradually vanish.

Translation - English [French “Perspective” Magazine Reporter] Hello Prime Minister Wen. We see that since the beginning of this year some countries in Northern Africa have undergone a large change. The world is also following closely the rapid development of China and in the political, economic, and cultural realms and have considered China to have instituted its own development model. The question I want to ask is, how well is China's model of development adapted to the changing environment? Can other countries therefore utilize and be inspired by this development?
[Wen Jiabao] We have certainly been paying to Western Asia and the political upheaval in Northern Africa, but we believe that it is incorrect to draw an analogy to China using the political turmoil in Western Asia and Northern Africa.
In the thirty years since the opening of China, the Chinese economy and its society has developed rapidly and the lives of its citizens have changed for the better. This is known by the world. Our government is earnestly working to resolve the problems that exist in the economy and in the society, and this even the common people can see.
The Chinese economy has actually changed a lot over the past few years, and our economy is now the second largest in the world. However, we recognize with sobriety that the population is large, the living standards low, the development unequal, and that China is still a developing country.
We have chosen a pathway of development that is suited for the conditions of China. This pathway contains a few characteristics: First, we must persist in treating the building of the economy as the center while vigorously pursuing economic development and the betterment of society; Second, we must adhere to a continuing people-centered and comprehensive development ; Third, we must uphold social equality and justice in order to guarantee the harmony and stability of society; Fourth, we must safeguard the democratic power of the people, promoting comprehensive development, and taking steps to utilize both the enthusiasm and creativity of the people.
We are in the midst of exploring reforms and construction, and we have never considered our method to be a model. Similarly, we consider any country free to choose their own path of development, and respect the choices of people of every county. We also think that different countries and different pathways to development should show mutual respect and learn from others and utilize one another's strong points. Thank you.
