If your Romanian is not as good as your interlocutor’s English and you wish to communicate with them clearly and efficiently, either in person, over the telephone or in writing, I am here to help you and make sure that the communication doesn’t go pear-shaped.
Hello, my name is Liviu Coroianu (a.k.a. Emilio Coroianu) and, for the best part of the last 14 years, I have been interpreting by day and night (more nights than I care to remember, quite frankly) into English and Romanian across England, Wales, and outside Great Britain on several occasions. I am based in tranquil Monmouthshire, and I specialise in the fields of police, legal, local government, and health & safety interpreting and translation. That said, I am no stranger to medical translation and interpreting assignments ranging from GP and specialist consultations to surgery in operating theatres and taxing care procedures at Intensive Care Units and Oncology Centres.
Harking back to my first two specialisms, I hold a Diploma in Police Interpreting (DPI with merit & distinction), as well as as Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI - English Law Pathway). I am a Chartered Linguist (CL) and a qualified Member of The Institute of Interpreters and Translators (MITI). In addition, I am a proud member of The Association of Police and Court Interpreters (APCI), and I have been security vetted to high national police and counterterrorism standards. I adhere to a written Code of Conduct, and I am bound by impartiality and confidentiality, which I observe with utmost probity and integrity; simply put, not even under close threat shall I reveal the name of my fragrance, clothier or what was discussed between you and your interlocutor(s) and/or client(s).
During the aforementioned 14+ years’ practice, I have gained extensive experience in the fields of technical (legal & medical) and non-technical (local government, business, education, social media communication and general texts) translation from English into Romanian and vice versa. I have transcribed and translated video and audio material for various police forces and the Crown Prosecution Service - CPS, and I am well au fait with the latest artificial intelligence - AI transcription technology.
I am trained and experienced in obtaining interpreter-assisted victim/witness statements accurately and effectively, and I have a solid practical knowledge of the theories at the root of the cognitive interviews developed by Geiselman and Fisher - the researchers who wrote the training manual for investigative services on how to conduct cognitive interviews.
I take advantage of continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities in order to keep my finger on the pulse of the latest developments in the field of linguistics and to expand on my specialist skills.
You should contact me if:
~ you require a timely response – I will answer / return your call or reply to your email enquiry within a minimum of 5 seconds and a maximum of 6 hours (feel free to put my claim to the test);
~ you require a direct, friendly, and reliable unique point of contact – I will ensure that your objectives are met and that you don’t have to repeat yourself (leave that to actors, who get paid to hear themselves delivering the same line multiple times); and
~ you value your interlocutor(s), client(s), time, business, and reputation.
None of the above is intended to impress you, but to impress upon you that I am a skilled, established, and resilient specialist Romanian interpreter, and I will ensure that nothing gets lost in translation.
Last but not least, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read the 'additional information' section of my profile, and I hope to provide you with the level and promptness of the service you require.
