My working languages are German and English,
but I have a moderate to good knowledge of French, Italian, Spanish and Latin,
too.

I have a very broad knowledge background, having worked as
an archaeologist in Britain and other parts of Europe for about 12 years
(much work on prehistoric sites, but later with a focus on medieval
building archaeology, especially monastic sites, and on early modern
fortifications, hence my interest in architecture too). After doing some
retraining I worked in management accounting/controlling for German and
American production companies in and near Hannover for 10 years.

I completed an M.A. course in history and then my Ph.D.
thesis at Hannover University as a mature student on a topic of Italian
Renaissance humanism (on a history of inventions written ca A.D.1500).

Since 2006 I've been working freelance, teaching
English, history and project management in adult education
institutes, universities and private companies, translating and editing
English texts.

I've been translating on and off since about 1996, but more
intensively since 2006. Due to a large number of translation projects (books,
articles and exhibition texts) with local institutions, museums etc., I am also
familiar with many aspects of the history of horticulture and landscape
architecture, of the Weser Renaissance as well as of the
philosophy and mathematics of Leibniz. Since I teach English at several
insurance companies I am acquainted with aspects of insurance and reinsurance
and general legal terminology.
