English to Portuguese: A Alvorada do Amor (The Dawn of Love) General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Um horror, grande e mudo, um silêncio profundo
No dia do Pecado amortalhava o mundo.
E Adão, vendo fechar-se a porta do Éden, vendo
Que Eva olhava o deserto e hesitava tremendo,
Disse: Chega-te a mim! entra no meu amor,
E à minha carne entrega a tua carne em flor!
Preme contra o meu peito o teu seio agitado,
E aprende a amar o Amor, renovando o pecado!
Abençôo o teu crime, acolho o teu desgosto,
Abre a terra em vulcões, encrespa a água dos rios;
As estrelas estão cheias de calefrios;
Ruge soturno o mar; turva-se hediondo o céu...
Vamos! que importa Deus? Desata, como um véu,
Sobre a tua nudez a cabeleira! Vamos!
Arda em chamas o chão; rasguem-te a pele os ramos;
Morda-te o corpo o sol; injuriem-te os ninhos;
Surjam feras a uivar de todos os caminhos;
E, vendo-te a sangrar das urzes através,
Se amaranhem no chão as serpes aos teus pés...
Que importa? o Amor, botão apenas entreaberto,
Ilumina o degredo e perfuma o deserto!
Amo-te! sou feliz! porque, do Éden perdido,
Levo tudo, levando o teu corpo querido!
Translation - Portuguese A great and soundless horror, a silence profound
Inside its shroud, on Sin’s day, kept all the world bound.
As Adam watched the doors of Eden shut, he stared
At Eve, who eyed the desert, trembling, unprepared.
Come here, to me, and come inside my love; entwine,
He said to her, this flowering flesh of yours with mine!
Your agitated bosom press against my own,
Learn Love itself to love; renew the sin we’ve grown!
I bless your crime, and all your sorrows I embrace,
And one by one I drink all the tears on your face!
See: everything rejects us! Then, to all creation,
Hurl as much of your horror, the same indignation…
The ire of God wrenches trees, tears them apart,
Like a fire typhoon scorches the forest’s heart,
Breaks the land with volcanoes and harshens the rivers,
And every star in the sky is stricken with shivers;
Grimly growls the sea, and hideous clouds twist the sky,
Come! What does God matter? Then like a veil untie
Your hair upon your nudity! Come, let us sin!
Let the ground burst in flames, the branches slash your skin;
Let the sun bite your body, the birds throw a curse;
Let the beasts come forth, howling, from the trails diverse;
And through the heather seeing you bleed, on the ground
At your feet let convoluting serpents glide ‘round.
What does it matter? Love, bud now barely abloom,
The exile brightens, and the desert does perfume!
I love you! I’m happy! From Eden we did fall,
But by bringing your body adored, I brought all!
Everything around you this destruction may raze,
For it will all revive, singing, under your gaze,
All of it will; oceans and skies, and trees and peaks,
Because from your womb, burning, perpetual Life leaks!
If you sing, then from your mouth the roses shall sprout!
If you cry, from your eyes the rivers shall flow out!
Near your enchanting, nude figure, death may undo
Everything; what will it matter? Nature is you,
Now that you’re a woman, now that you have sinned! Oh!
Blessed be that moment when to me you chose to show
Love, born of your sin, and Life, that was born of crime!
Because now, Man freed from God, redeemed and sublime,
Light of your eyes, as a Man I’ll stay on Earth’s sod;
Earth, better than Heaven, and Man, greater than God!

Experience
Years of experience: 14. Registered at ProZ.com: Jul 2013.
I have studied languages all my life. My first foreign language was English, and besides various English schools, I have studied English as an undergraduate student in three universities, including one in the USA, although I have not graduated. I have also studied my native language, Brazilian Portuguese, in depth in a few universities, and have finished many levels of "Linguistics" and similar subjects. I have learned French by myself, and have since read many French classics. In 2013 I started studying Russian intensively: I moved to Moscow and took a nine-month course there, and then spent two more years studying this language in a university in Rio. Now I am married to a Russian wife with whom I communicate in Russian.
