I am an American writer, editor, and translator living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I worked for 15 years translating from Portuguese to English, mostly full-time, but now I'm working part time.
Since I am also a musician and composer, one of the fields that interests me is music, but I also enjoy translating novels, scripts, and poetry. These areas are my strong points.
I worked as a music writer for The Christian Science Monitor for twelve years, and have also written and published my memoir, "Getting Down to Brass Tacks - My adventures in jazz, Rio, and beyond."
I haven't published my rates here, as I prefer to set them case-by-case. I generally prefer working for private clients or for colleagues who have an overflow of work (lucky them!).
I also do editing and proofreading of books and short stories in English.
Here is a list of some of the books I have translated:
Romances Espiritas por Chico Xavier:
Os Mensageiros
Ave, Cristo!
Há Dois Mil Anos
Cinquenta Anos Depois
Renúncia (em andamento)
Labirinto (romance de crime e suspense) por Dagoberto Aranha Pacheco (em andamento)
Coleção de contos por Olav Schraeder
Onde está Teresa? (romance espirita-suspense) por Zibia Gasparetto
Translated the script for the 2012 comedy film Os Penetras
I have also translated the following websites:
Gustavo Rosa (Artist)
Roberto Rosa (Photographer)
I am currently working on various projects for Galeria Athena Contemporânea. |
