Regret..
" I love you". You Say in A tone that pierces the tongue before escaping your lips- twelve gauge. I've heard you say this many times, but you mean it this time, just like last time.
"I don't much like needles." I think to myself, so I ignore the words and close my eyes. You lay your head on my chest and all the lies burn a hole through my heart. So many promises, empty. But I suppose I can pretend, for now. It isn't hard. It just hurts sometimes.
I push the thought back and pull you closer. I run my finger down your naked back; cool soft skin shivers as I touch your spine. So this is what it's come to- feigning intimacy? You are an impostor and this is not your skin. I caress your neck and imagine what you really look like beneath your mask. A monster, pale and dead just like you left her. I remember the night, as clear as day through the scope.
She was so beautiful.
Like rain.
It was raining the night you killed her. Torrents of needles pierced my skin as I stared in tear streaked horror at the brutality of the scene. It was cold and dark, and the sky was bleeding red with crimson. I bit back the urge to scream and you held the knife so tight your Knuckles tensed with fury. I wanted to scream so badly. I wanted to yell out, "why? Why are you doing this? How could you destroy something so beautiful, so pure? Something meant to last forever! " but I couldn't . I was curious and they were right. My god they were right. Just like the cat.
Regret.
You didn't know that I was there, watching. You didn't know.
I didn't dare move … The ground was littered with broken twigs and autumn leaves so I knew my false step would have alarmed you. Would have stopped you. Oh, how I wanted you to stop; and yet no words would come. No pleas, no begging. I watched it happen and sat idly by.
I should have been the one, I know. I should have been there to say something, anything, that would make you stop hurting her, But I've said it all before. It changes nothing. This what you wanted, what you've always wanted. I should have seen it in your eyes the day I met you and that horrible lie you told me- what you were capable of.
It wasn't hard to miss that night, the night that you stole her life. Even in the darkness I could see the twisted smile on your face. A smile that meant that it was over, and everything was different now. I knew then that you were right. Things would never be the same because you loved what you were doing and secretly I did, too.
Regret.
This wasn't supposed to happen. No one supposed to get hurt, remember? She never did anything to you. She was innocent, and lovely. You were the guilty one. The devil inside. Her color was perfect shade of pink, full of passion and a purity you could never even touch, even then as you dug your spidery fingers into her wounds, desperate to feel what she had. I remember that I laughed then, slightly, because I knew that you couldn't come close to knowing, and you never will.
" I don't love you; I whisper to my thoughts, ' I could never love you''. It was her that I loved. She was the one I told and I meant it. She was the only one.
" what are you thinking about". You ask me, and your scandalous eyes meet mine against the reflection of the TV screen. All I can see is the blade.
And the wounds.
So many. Every time you stabbed her you killed a small part of me as well. Did you know that? Did you even think about that at all? Did I cross your mind even once while you were hacking away our love?
"Nothing". I reply, knowing how far from true it always is. All I do now is think. Why? How? What if? Where would we be if I had stopped all this from happening, or at the very least, tried to? Would you have still found away? Would I still feel so small? Would your skin still feel so frozen against mine? I don't know. I'll never know.
Regret.
Your cold heart makes no sound as I kiss your breasts. This isn't real it can't be real. You hover over me , biting and scratching my unwanting skin ……it's quite unaffecting these days. I shiver in hidden revulsion as your body presses me tenderly and your hips tighten around my legs. If only you knew how disgusted I feel right now.
You don't want to know what I am thinking and I could never tell you.
"you're lying . Tell me ?" You smile, faking innocence. Pretending like I don't already know. You're not that convincing, no matter how hard you try to be just like her. You're not and I can see it, all too clearly. Your bright ocean blue eyes flicker with something like pure evil and I long to see her behind them, but it's just you again. Perhaps it's all a trick. Maybe you know I know, and now you're screwing with my mind. I just don't know. How could I ever know.?
Regret.
I close my eyes again and I force myself to say, " I was thinking about you, hun. You're all I ever think about." Which is true, but not how I meant for you to hear it. "That's good". You laugh. " cause I think about you too, baby. All the time. I missed you."
I miss her. More than anything. And I hate you for what you've done. " I missed you too"." We kiss and your lips burn mine, like poison. I lay my head back against the head rest and try to seem indifferent. Suddenly, a jolt of intense fear and pain and angst indescribable in words, runs through me. Why am I still here? Why do I put up with it all? I'm trapped and I can never forgive you for keeping me here. Maybe I should just go. Just leave, and see what happens to you. Maybe it would help if I saw you suffer as I've suffered. I would, but I have this aching feeling that you don't really need me here at all. That somehow it would bring you some joy if I conceded and left, leaving you victorious in your efforts of keeping me from having her. From loving her. From being loved. Who knows? I don't.
Deeper…
"I love you so much." You say again and again, between each kiss. It feels like so long, and I swear since that night, every night you've seen has been forced- false like the moon on the night you killed that poor girl. Painted crimson.

"أحبك". تقولينها بنبرة صوت تثقب اللسان قبل أنت تهرب من بين شفتيك ذوات عيار أثني عشر. لقد سمعتك تقولينها مرات عديدة، و لكنك تعنينها هذه المرة، تماما كأخر مرة.
"لا أحب الإبر كثيراً". أفكر بيني و بين نفسي، لذلك أتجاهل الكلمات و أغلق عيني. تضعين رأسك على صدري فتحرق كل الأكاذيب حفرة في قلبي. الكثير الكثير من الوعود، فارغة. و لكني أفترض بأن لي القدرة على التظاهر في الوقت الراهن. أنه ليس بالأمر الصعب، و لكنه يؤلم أحياناً.
أدحر الفكرة و أضمك إلي أكثر. أمرر أصابعي إلى أسفل ظهرك العاري. ترتعش بشرتك اللطيفة الحريرية عندما ألمس عامودك الفقاري. إذا هذا ما يقودنا إلى المودة المفتعلة؟ أنتي محتالة و هذه ليست بشرتك. أداعب رقبتك و أنا أتخيل ما تبدين عليه حقا خلف قناعك. وحش، شاحب و ميت تماماً كما تركتيها. أتذكر تلك الليلة بوضوح نهار تحت المجهر.
لقد كانت جميلة للغاية.
كالمطر.
لقد كانت تمطر ليلة قتلتيها. سيول من الإبر ثقبت جلدي بينما كنت أحدق بعيون باكية و رعب مضطرب على وحشية المشهد. لقد كانت ليلة باردة و مظلمة، و كانت السماء تنزف الأحمر مع القرمزي. كبحت رغبتي الملحة بالصراخ و أمسكتي أنتي السكين بشدة حتى اضطربت مفاصل أصابعك بغضب. أردت بشكل سيء للغاية أن أصرخ. أردت أن أصيح من أعماقي. " لماذا؟ لماذا تفعلين ذلك؟ كيف كان في مقدروك أن تدمري شيئاً جميلاً جداً، نقياً جداً؟ شيئاً مقدراً له أن يبقى للأبد!" ولكني لم أستطع. لقد كان ينتابني الفضول و هم كانوا على حق. يا ألهي لقد كانوا على حق. تماماً كالقطة.
ندم.
لم تعرفي بأني كنت هناك، أشاهد. لم تعرفي.
لم أجرأ على الحركة...لقد كانت الأرض ممتلئة بالأغصان المتكسرة و أوراق الخريف لذلك عرفت بأن خطوة زائفة مني كانت قد تفزعك. قد توقفك. آه، كم أردتك أن تتوقفي; بدون مناشدة، بدون توسل. شاهدت هذا و هو يحدث و جلست بجواره مكتوف اليدين.
كان يجدر بي أن أكون الشخص المنشود، أعرف ذلك. كان يجدر بي أن أكون هنالك لكي أقول شيء ما، أي شيء، قد يوقفك عن إيذائها. و لكن لقد قلت كل شيء مسبقا. أنه لا يغير شيء. هذا ما كنت تريدينه، هذا الذي كنت تردينه دائما. كان يجدر بي أن أرى هذا في عينييك يوم إلتقيتك و من تلك الكذبة الشنيعة التي أخبرتني إياها- ما الذي كنت قادرة على فعله.
لم يكن من الصعب تفويت تلك الليلة، الليلة التي سرقت فيها حياتها، حتى في الظلام كنت قادراً على رؤية الابتسامة الخبيثة على وجهك. ابتسامة عنت بأن الأمر انتهى، و كل شيء أختلف الآن. عرفت حينها بأنك كنت محقة. لن تعود الأمور أبداً كما كانت لأنك أحببت ما كنت تفعلينه و أنا في سري كنت كذلك، أيضا.

لم يكن من المفترض أن يحدث ذلك. لم يكن من المفترض أن يتأذى أحدهم، هل تتذكرين؟ فهي لم تفعل إي شيئا لك مطلقاً. لقد كانت بريئة و محبوبة. لقد كنت أنتي المذنبة الوحيدة. الشيطان في داخلك. كان لونها المفضل الظل الوردي المثالي، كانت مليئة بالشغف و النقاء الذي لم يكن بإمكانك حتى لمسه، حتى ذلك الحين عندما غرزت أصابعك العنكبوتية في جروحها، جاهدة لكي تشعري بما كان لديها. أتذكر بأني ضحكت بعدها، قليلًا، لأني عرفت بأنك لم تكوني قريبة من المعرفة و لن تكوني.
" أنا لا أحبك"; أهمس لأفكاري، "لم أقدر يوماً أن أحبك". لقد كانت هي التي أحببتها. لقد كانت هي التي أخبرتها إني أحبها و عنيتها. لقد كانت الوحيدة التي أخبرتها.
"ما الذي تفكر فيه". تسأليني، و عيناك المخزية تلتقي عيناي مقابل انعكاس شاشة التلفاز. كل ما أستطيع رؤيته هو السكين.
وكذلك الجروح.
عدد كبير منها. في كل مرة كنت تطعنينها كنت تقتلين جزء صغيراً مني كذلك. هل كنت على علم بذلك؟ هل فكرت حتى بهذا كله؟ هل خطرت ببالك و لو مرة واحدة بينما كنت تمزقين حبنا؟
"لا شيء" أجيبك، مع العلم كم يبعد هذا دائما عن الحقيقة. كل ما يمكنني عمله الآن هو التفكير. لماذا؟ كيف؟ ماذا لو؟ أين سنكون لو أني أوقفت كل ذلك من الحدوث؟ أو على الأقل حاولت أن أفعل ذلك؟ هل كنت مع ذلك ستجدين طريقة؟ هل كنت أنا مع ذلك سأشعر بأني صغير جدا؟ هل كان جلدك سيبدو متجمداً مقابل جلدي؟ لا أعرف. لن أعرف أبدا.
ندم.
قلبك البارد لا يصدر إي صوت بينما أقبل نهديك. هذا ليس حقيقا. لا يمكن أن يكون حقيقا. تحومين فوقي، تعضين و تخدشين بشرتي الغير راغبة .... ذلك غير مؤثر إلى حد بعيد هذه الأيام. أرتعش بنفور مخفي بينما يضغط جسدك علي برقة و وركيك تشد على سقاني. لو إنك عرفت كم أشعر بالاشمئزاز في هذه اللحظة.
أنت لا تريدين أنت تعرفي بماذا أفكر و لن أقدر أبدا على أخبارك.
"أنت تكذب. أخبرني "ابتسمت، تدعين البراءة. تتظاهرين كأني لا أعرف مسبقاً. أنتي لست مقنعة بشكل كافي ، مهما حاولت جاهدة أن تكوني مثلها تماماً. أنتي لست هكذا و أنا أستطيع أن أرى ذلك، كله بوضوح. عيونك اللامعة الزرقاء بلون المحيط تومض بشيءً كالشر الخالص و أنا أتوق لرؤيتها خلف تلك العينين، و لكن ها أنتي مرة أخرى. ربما كل هذا مجرد خدعة. ربما أنتي تعلمين إني أعلم، و أنت الآن تعبثين بعقلي. كل ما في الأمر إني لا أعلم. كيف لي أن أعلم؟
ندم.
أغمض عيني مرة أخرى و أجبر نفسي أن أقول، " كنت أفكر فيك، حلوتي. أنتي كل ما أفكر فيه على الإطلاق." وهذا صحيح، و لكن ليس بالطريقة التي قصدت أن أسمعك فيها ذلك. " هذا جيد". تضحكين. " لأني أفكر فيك أيضا يا حبيبي، طوال الوقت. اشتقت لك."
اشتاق لها. أكثر من إي شيءً أخر. و أكرهك لما فعلته. "و أنا أيضاً اشتقت لك ". نتبادل القبل و تحرق شفتيك شفتاي، كالسم. أريح رأسي للخلف على الوسادة و أحاول أن أبدو مختلفاً. فجأة، صدمة من الخوف الشديد و الألم و الهموم التي تعجز الكلمات عن وصفها، تمر من خلالي. لماذا ما زلت أنا هنا؟ لماذا أتحمل كل هذا؟ أنا عالق هنا و لن يكون بمقدري أبداً أن أسامحك على إبقائي هنا. ربما ينبغي علي أن أرحل ببساطة. أن أغادر ببساطة، و أشاهد ماذا يحل بك، لربما سيساعد لو رأيتك تعانين كما عانيت. وددت ذلك، و لكن لدي هذا الشعور المؤلم أنك في الحقيقة لست بحاجة لأن أكون هنا مطلقاً. و بأنه بطريقة ما سيجلب إليك بعض الفرح لو إني تنازلت و غادرت، تاركاً إياك منتصرة فيما تبذلينه من جهود في سبيل منعي من الحصول عليها. منعي من حبها. منعي من أكون محبوباً. من يعرف؟ لا أعلم.
" أحبك حباً جماً". تقولينها مراراً و تكراراً، بين كل قبلة. لقد مضى وقت طويل جداً، و أنا أقسم بأنه منذ تلك الليلة، كل ليلة رأيتها كنت مكرهاً عليها- كانت مزيفة كالقمر في تلك الليلة التي قتلتي فيها تلك الفتاة المسكينة. لقد كانت مطلية باللون القرمزي.
