When work or relationships are worying you, try these practices to still your mind
The beauty of meditation is that there are a variety of techniques to help us through the many challenges we face, so that we can return to a place of balance and harmony.
Choose a meditation that suits your current situation. Then sit comfortably, chin slightly tucked in and shoulders relaxed. Keep your facial expression soft, release your jaw and breathe in and out through your nose. Set a timer for 5-10 minutes or continue the meditation until you’re ready to end it.
In the morning:
Visualise a calm day ahead
A morning meditation is a great opportunity to set your intention for the rest of the day.
1. After finding a comfortable seated position, close your eyes and begin by taking 4 conscious deep breaths, feeling the inhale and exhale move in your body.
2. Begin to send the breath to your heart space; do this by feeling the connection to your heart. Next, visualise the sun shining bright and its rays filling up your body, giving you a fresh new day.
3. Start to visualise your day. Rather than trying to change things outside of your control, visualise how you’d like to feel and be. For example, you might like to be as fluid as water – flowing and in harmony with life – visualise what that would look like.
4. Connect with the feeling and experience it in your body. Once you’ve completed visualising your day, smile.

Eine morgendliche Meditation ist das perfekte Mittel, seinen Tag in Ruhe zu planen.
1. Nachdem Sie eine bequeme Sitzposition gefunden haben, schließen Sie die Augen und fangen Sie mit vier bewussten, tiefen Atemzügen an. Fühlen Sie, wie die Luft tief in Ihren Körper hinein und aus diesem wieder herausströmt.
2. Schicken Sie den Atem in Richtung Ihres Herzens, indem Sie die Verbindung zum Herzen visualisieren. Stellen Sie sich als Nächstes die Sonne vor, wie sie mit ihren Strahlen Ihren Körper mit Energie für den Tag füllt.
3. Fangen Sie nun damit an, Ihren Tag zu visualisieren. Statt Dinge ändern zu wollen, die Sie nicht ändern können, sollten Sie sich überlegen, wie Sie sich heute fühlen möchten, wie Sie sein wollen. Sie können sich beispielsweise fließendes Wasser vorstellen. Das steht nämlich dafür, ausgeglichen durchs Leben zu „gleiten“.
4. Gehen Sie diesem Gefühl nach und spüren Sie es im ganzen Körper. Schenken Sie sich selbst ein Lächeln.

My name’s Max, I’m in my late 20s and a German native speaker.
After graduating from Würzburger Dolmetscherschule (school for translators and interpreters) in 2017 I’ve been able to improve my English constantly by talking to native speakers from all over the world in both, business and private matters. Learning so much about another language has enhanced my sense for detail, accuracy and of course creativity when it comes to phrasing, also in my native language.
Since late 2018 I’ve had the honor of working together with one of the biggest national publishing houses in Germany, translating and localizing whole magazines about topics related to lifestyle, nutrition, mindfulness and many more for the release on the German market.
