English to Turkish: Who Killed Cock Robin?
General field: Art/Literary
Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English
Who killed Cock Robin?
I, said the Sparrow,
with my bow and arrow,
I killed Cock Robin.
Who saw him die?
I, said the Fly,
with my little eye,
I saw him die.
Who caught his blood?
I, said the Fish,
with my little dish,
I caught his blood.
Who'll make the shroud?
I, said the Beetle,
with my thread and needle,
I'll make the shroud.
Who'll dig his grave?
I, said the Owl,
with my little trowel,
I'll dig his grave.
Who'll be the parson?
I, said the Rook,
with my little book,
I'll be the parson.

Who'll be the clerk?
I, said the Lark,
if it's not in the dark,
I'll be the clerk.
Who'll carry the link?
I, said the Linnet,
I'll fetch it in a minute,
I'll carry the link.
Who'll be chief mourner?
I, said the Dove,
I mourn for my love,
I'll be chief mourner.
Who'll carry the coffin?
I, said the Kite,
if it's not through the night,
I'll carry the coffin.
Who'll bear the pall?
We, said the Wren,
both the cock and the hen,
We'll bear the pall.
Who'll sing a psalm?
I, said the Thrush,
as she sat on a bush,
I'll sing a psalm.
Who'll toll the bell?
I, said the Bull,

because I can pull,
I'll toll the bell.
All the birds of the air
fell a-sighing and a-sobbing,
when they heard the bell toll
for poor Cock Robin.

Ben, dedi Serçe,
Yayım ve okum ile,
Ben öldürdüm Renkli Nar Bülbülünü.
Kim gördü onu, ölümünde izleyerek?
Ben, dedi Sinek,
Ufacık gözümle izleyerek,
Ben gördüm ölümünü.
Kim yakaladı kanını?
Ben, dedi Balık,
Tabağım ile ufacık,
Ben yakaladım kanını.
Kim dikecek kefeni?
Ben, dedi Kakalak,
İpimle ve iğnemle oyarak,
Ben dikeceğim kefeni.
Kim kazacak mezarını?

Ben, dedi Baykuş,
Küreğimle arş arş,
Ben kazacağım mezarını.
Kim olacak rahibi?
Ben, dedi Karga,
Ufacık kitabımla,
Ben olacağım rahibi.
Kim yapacak yazı işi?
Ben, dedi Tarlakuşu,
Değilse karanlık bize komşu,

Kim taşıyacak tabutu?
Ben, dedi Çaylak,
Gece karanlığında değilse uçarak,
Ben taşıyacağım tabutu.
Kim yüklenecek tabut örtüsünü?
Biz, dedi kümes kuşları,
Hem horozları, hem de tavukları,

Biz yükleneceğiz tabut örtüsünü.
Kim söyleyecek ilahi?
Ben, dedi Karatavuk,

The United Arab Emirates consists seven emirates which are located in east of the Arabian Peninsula. Abu
Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaima, Fujairah, Umm al-Qaiwain and Ajman. Its total area is 83,600
square kilometers which Dubai contains 4,114 square kilometers of it. (Kassar, 2007) Dubai is the biggest
city of The United Arab Emirates and its population is 1,6 million. 17% of it consists local people, 51% of
it consists immigrants of India, 16% of it consists immigrants from Pakistan and the rest is immigrants
from Bangladesh, Phillipinnes and other western countries. These are mostly coming from England, USA,
Australia, Canada and working on oil, finances or investments. (Sampler & Eigner, 2008:21)
UAE is fortieth country in United Nations Development Index, 2014, amongst 187 countries worldwide.
(Malit Jr. & Youha, September18, 2013). One of the 3 biggest airports in world is in Dubai. We can call
this place the most stable area of the Middle East and Africa in terms of economics and politics. That’s
why the investments are moving to this area. One of the accommodations to foreign investors is free area
application that gives entrepreneurs the ease of being exempt of taxes. According to researches of Dubai
Economics Council, Dubai had the fastest growing economy in the world between the years 1975- 2008.
(Andrew Scott, August 30, 2014) And it still is a fast developing economy to this day. With this economic
development Dubai and therefore UAE achieved to reach world standards. We should state that only few
countries in the world achieved this success in such a short time.

Bio
I can both write and understand English almost perfectly. I have some fluency problems
about speaking but I can speak if I’m given time to think properly.
I’m working on learning German, Greek and Bulgarian. They’re still works in progress,
but I can translate these languages to Turkish, if given enough time. But I cannot
translate Turkish into these languages, because of the genders that nouns have in those
languages.
I have translated one Spanish poem from Federico Garcia Lorca and one Russian poem
from Marina Tsvetaeva. I can translate poems from any European Language because of
my almost perfect understanding of English except the Scandinavian ones. But I cannot
translate long literal texts except the aforementioned languages (English, German, Greek
and Bulgarian).

So, to sum it up; English, almost perfect at writing and reading, good speaking, German,
mediocre at everything, Bulgarian and Greek, mediocre at speaking, still learning writing
and reading (Because of their different alphabets).

I have curiosity over almost anything, be it quantum physics or making a weaving loom (I made one). I’m a quick-learner, I can be more than sufficient at any given subject within a month, tops. I
tend to stick to the deadlines given. I slept two hours for a month just to keep with the
date I was given. I can solve problems with ease (My friends use this qualification of
mine very often, maybe it can be useful for you as well). I use Microsoft Office programs
efficiently.

I like talking a lot. I mean really lot. I like to share information I learnt with people I love. I
like reading, learning and researching new things. I also write a blog which includes my
own literal works. Mostly, I read and write but other than that I watch my favourite tv
shows like Doctor Who, American Gods, etc. I also like walking for hours by myself, I find
it relaxing.
