Even though at the moment my professional profile is based primarily on technical translation, working on written and audiovisual material within the fields of education, disability, and health care, I am transitioning onto topics that relate closely to my personal life. My areas of interest are a clear reflection of this.
AREAS OF INTEREST:
- ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY. More than ever, we need to raise our voices and become agents of environmental change, questioning the industries and people in power that remain at the core of this issue, while proposing and supporting new habits and lifestyles that bring us closer to a healthier, more sustainable life.
- FEMINISMS AND GENDER. After years of adhering to gender-restricting practices, it is urgent to devise approaches that integrate new voices that, at the same time, serve to expose the current linguistic challenges instilled by a narrow and patriarchal society. As a community, we need to purposefully act on inclusion, steer the spotlight towards feminisms and gender-nonconforming organizations, and revisit interpretations from a gender perspective.
- YOGA, WELLNESS, AND MINDFULNESS. Amidst the chaotic state of the world, oriental traditions related to the concept of mindfulness arise to provide a breath of fresh air and turn ourselves to inward exploration. It remains crucial to continue valuing their significance and finding ways of integrating them into our everyday routines.
Around this topic, I have been in charge of translating several journals on self-exploration and emotional regulation for female and male inmates in United States prisons. This type of content is, in particular, rewarding since it allows me to apply such teachings in my life as an added value.
- RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL AND ECOTOURISM. On a more personal note, traveling has always been a passion of mine, and I consider it is an important tool for learning and self-development. I believe that for most people, even after COVID-19, tourism will continue to be the main drive to get through our day-to-day life. Still, how we enjoy meeting new places and people needs to shift into more sustainable and thoughtful activities.
