Bio
I am a native English speaker and am able to speak fluent
German, following many years of studying the language and living and working in
a number of German cities. In particular whilst living in Leipzig, I carried
out a number of translations and/or proofreading of translated texts for some
of my company’s clients, such as BMW, the Financial Times and the Leipzig 2012
Olympic Bid Committee.
Last year I studied for a Post-Graduate Certificate in
Translation, specializing in translating from German into English. This year, I
have carried out voluntary translation of talks on TEDTalks and TED.Ed and
subsequent subtitling.Therefore, although I have limited experience in the
field of translation, I would like to utilise and further develop the skills I
acquired.
I am self-motivated and able to manage my time well in
order to meet deadlines. Furthermore, I have excellent communication skills and
work very well as a member of a team. I have strong IT skills and use Word,
Powerpoint, Excel and e-mail on a daily basis. I also have experience of using
machine translation (MateCat) and subtitling technology (Amara).
