Source text - English The Templars had no affection for the Tories – those who would see the nation remain a colony of Britain – nor, for that matter, the Patriots. Independence was an opportunity, little more: indeed, we see that Haytham placed agents in both camps. Their goal was to ensure that the Templars might shape and command the political landscape formed by the upheaval.
However, it is important to remember that Haytham’s original commission was to seek out a “precursor” vault unlocked by the amulet that we recognize as the key to the inner chamber of the Grand Temple. As has been revealed in previous episodes, the Templars have exploited the power of First Civilization technology (particularly the potent Pieces of Eden) throughout history to control minds in a more subtle and deceptive fashion. While the efforts of Haytham and his associates to locate the site and exploit the technology inside were fruitless, his Templar episode laid the groundwork for their future dominance in a more conventional fashion.

Source text - English My first week at Harvard, I encountered a guy named Alden, who was selling a paper called the Workers Vanguard outside the Freshman Union.
“We’re Trotskyists,” he said.
Over the next year I became something of a Trotskyist myself, though not a very good one. I am glad I didn’t run into any Maoists.
I knew nothing about Trotsky, who was, after Lenin, the most important leader of the Russian Revolution, and who subsequently became the leader of the Left Opposition to Stalin (a group inside the Communist Party). Stalin had him expelled from the party in 1927, exiled to Alma-Ata, and then deported from the country in the dead of night in February 1929. In 1940 he was murdered at his desk with an ice pick in Mexico City by an agent of Stalin’s secret police.
But I was interested in socialist politics. I read the New York Times every day and became incensed about the dirty war that Ronald Reagan was conducting in Nicaragua, and the billions of dollars that the U.S. government sent to a regime in El Salvador that killed peasants, nuns and archbishops.
Alden was in his mid-twenties, tall, blond and sarcastic. He wasn’t a Harvard student, though rumor had it he was from a very wealthy family. He belonged to a group called the Spartacist League (SL), who had been expelled from the Socialist Workers Party in the early 1960s. They called themselves the Spartacist League in tribute to the original German Spartacist League led by Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, socialists who spent World War I behind bars for their principled opposition while the bulk of the Social Democrats gave full support to the war effort.
