XXX is a novel, orally active, potent, selective, direct, inhibitor of coagulation factor Xa (FXa) that reversibly binds directly to the active site of FXa and exerts anticoagulant and antithrombotic effects by diminishing the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin. FXa is the sole physiological mediator of the formation thrombin, which, through its actions on fibrin formation and platelet activation, is a key mediator of thrombosis in both the venous and arterial circulation. Inhibition of thrombin formation, therefore, produces antithrombotic effects under a variety of pathological conditions. | Translation - Spanish
